Deborah’s Beloved Portrait Session

When I spoke to Deborah about the kind of photos she wanted, she said that she wanted to feel beautiful, and that she wanted something “soft and classy.” Deborah is doing life coaching and needed a photo for her portfolio, but mainly she wanted to feel good about pictures of herself. I did a Beloved Session with her. During the session I asked whether her feelings about photos of herself had to do with self-esteem or things in her past; did she like herself and did that show in the photos? She said she felt that her life was improving and that she could like photos of herself that showed this new stage of life. We ended up talking really deeply. The Beloved Session isn’t your average photoshoot—you never know what’s going to come out of the session that isn’t pictures—emotions, ideas, knowing yourself a little better (or your partner if it’s a couples session). It’s not just about the photos, it’s about the photos capturing the truth of who you are.
